Dear Daddy

We remember

Yesterday, just like today

You bought us gifts bought us toys

Gave us love, gave us joy

Each time we cried

Your love would pacify

Your team-work with mother

Would always satisfy

Some nights, you would

Tap our heads, bless us to sleep

These moments were rare and few

But these memories we shall keep

Today this day, just like everyday

Thanks to you is bright & gay

And if were to bow & pray

My heart, my mind, my soul would say

May God bless you with happy days

A poem I wrote for my daddy, on his birthday, sometime in the 80s/90s; he had high cholestrol and was also advised by his doctor to eat less salt because he had high blood pressure.

I wrote this poem for his Chautha (Prayer Meet in April 2002):

Dear dad,

As long as there is poetry…

As long as there is memory…

You will live amongst us all.

You leave behind your footprints…

On the canvas of life…

The sands of time…

And in our hearts…

Love you, miss you…

Your son,

Daboo.

“Best card I Ever Received”

That was what he wrote on the “Get Well Soon, Dad” greeting card we children gifted him when he suffered his first heart related ailment in 1982.

I am sorry card for daddy from me 🙂
